CDEV statement on West Coast Pipeline designation

October 1, 2026 – Today’s designation of the proposed West Coast Oil Pipeline, now known as Pacific Link as a project of national interest is an important step forward in translating Canada’s economic ambition into action.

Canada has set a clear objective: build the infrastructure needed to strengthen our economy, diversify our trade relationships and get Canadian resources to global markets. Delivering on that ambition will require more than identifying the projects that matter. It will require moving them forward with speed, commercial discipline and a clear focus on execution.

Trans Mountain has already demonstrated what is possible. The expansion entered commercial operations in 2024 and today provides Canada with critical energy infrastructure and significantly greater access to global markets.

The opportunity now is to build on that foundation.

Advancing the next generation of major infrastructure will require governments, Indigenous Peoples, industry, investors and communities to work together to find commercially sound solutions, address barriers and make decisions at the pace required to get projects built.

As the parent company of Trans Mountain Corporation, CDEV welcomes today’s announcement and the clarity it provides for the work ahead.

Quote by Elizabeth Wademan, CDEV President and CEO:

“Canada has set an ambitious economic agenda. The task now is to deliver it.

We know from Trans Mountain that Canada can move complex, nation-building infrastructure forward when there is clarity of purpose, strong partnerships and a relentless focus on execution.

Today’s announcement creates a clearer path to move from policy ambition to a project that can be structured, financed and ultimately built. That is how we turn Canada’s extraordinary potential into lasting economic value.”
