Ananya Prakash, Associate, Execution & Advisory

CDEV expands the horizon of young investment bankers

I began my career as a chemical engineer and then transitioned to investment banking at RBC where I focused on energy infrastructure and learned how financing decisions influence infrastructure projects, communities, and national priorities. Who gets funded, who decides, and how capital can be a lever for shared value are questions that feed my curiosity and capture my interest.

Joining CDEV was a deliberate move to widen my scope. CDEV offers a unique chance to apply my finance skills to landmark financial and commercial transactions that matter to Canada. I get to work on national-level projects that shape policy, support economic growth, and serve Canadians directly. It’s a unique opportunity to see infrastructure through a government lens and to be part of decisions that have a far-reaching impact.

CDEV stands out for its unique position as a federal Crown corporation, blending the dynamism of the private sector with the far-reaching impact of high-profile investments. It’s rare to find a role where early-career professionals can gain both breadth and depth, while knowing that the outcomes ripple across the country.

Ashley Payette, Legal Counsel & Assistant Corporate Secretary

At CDEV, governance is more than keeping the lights on

I started my legal career with the legal team at CPA Ontario, where I gained great general practice experience covering everything from contract review and policy drafting to organizing the annual meeting. From there I joined a large insurance company where I expanded my expertise in corporate secretarial work. As an in-house counsel, I really enjoy helping the business I’m a part of thrive and be successful.

Part of what attracted me to CDEV is the small size of the organization, which enables me to get to know my colleagues more closely and have a good overview of the entire business. Understanding the wide range of businesses CDEV is involved with is critical to my role around providing the best advice on strong corporate governance. The work is diverse and rewarding because, thanks to CDEV, I get involved in projects that can truly have an impact on the Canadian economy and the wellbeing of Canadians.

CDEV is striving to be the preeminent source for financial advisory services and commercial expertise to the government of Canada, and the volume of mandates has increased significantly over the years, so the opportunities are endless for a young lawyer like me.

Carlos Gallardo, Chief Financial Officer

Efficiency, inclusivity, collaboration, and impact: a day in the life of CDEV’s CFO

As the CFO, I am responsible for CDEV’s financial stewardship. I partner with my colleagues and other business leaders to provide advice and leadership around financial reporting and risk management. Given our broad mandate, there is always a wide array of challenging initiatives, making it an exciting place to contribute to Canada’s economic and infrastructural growth.

In addition to working on large-scale, complex projects and investments that are profoundly meaningful but also present fascinating financial and accounting challenges, I am focused on enhancing operational efficiency, leveraging technology solutions, improving our cyber environment, and progressing our data analytics. Innovation and continuous improvement are core to our business and the success of CDEV.

I am impressed by the corporate culture we continue to build on – one that emphasizes inclusivity, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to Canada and Canadians.

Russ Wenman, Vice President & Head of Execution and Advisory

Accelerating transformation by turning government mandates into agile execution

After 20 years at PwC in the UK and Canada providing advice on complex global transactions, I left one of the world’s largest professional services firms to join CDEV. The opportunity to be part of a highly engaged, dynamic, agile, and like-minded senior leadership team driving a business transformation program was compelling.

A key part of my mandate is to build CDEV’s implementation and financial advisory services team, advising the Government of Canada on its most complex financial and commercial issues, leveraging our deep private sector expertise.

The wide range of our mandates and projects, along with the diversity of our group of companies, is a constant source of change and new challenges. There is no typical day at CDEV, and quite literally no other organization in Canada has as broad a variety of mandates as CDEV.

Amadeus Domaradzki, Director Execution & Advisory

At CDEV, finance is more than numbers; it’s structuring deals that impact Canadians.

I was drawn to CDEV because of the unique opportunity to shape and deliver impactful programs that support Canada’s long-term policy priorities. Since I joined in September 2024, I’ve been focused on the delivery of the Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program (ILGP). Playing a role in advancing Indigenous economic participation was an exciting challenge I couldn’t pass up.

I oversee the screening, due diligence, and execution processes for ILGP. My role is to ensure that each transaction is carefully assessed, structured, and delivered in a way that balances financial rigor with the program’s broader policy objectives.

CDEV stands out because of the breadth of its mandates and its ability to act quickly and effectively on behalf of the Government of Canada. We bring private-sector expertise to public-sector challenges, which creates an environment that is both dynamic and deeply purposeful. No two days are the same, and the work we do truly makes a difference across Canada.
